Basic Properties
Active substance: Insulin Aspart
NovoRapid (Novolog) 10 ml vial is an analog to the human insulin designed to control blood sugar levels and regulate glucose levels in adults and children with diabetes mellitus. Both people with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes may use the medication. It helps to readjust the excessive blood sugar to various tissues, like muscles, fat, or the liver.
It is fast-acting insulin, so it is usually prescribed together with intermediate-acting or long-acting insulin. The effect after injection begins in approximately 10 minutes and stays up to 5 hours.
You can buy insulin products as Novolog Flexpen, Novolog FlexTouch Penfill Cartridge, as well as Novolog vials at Insulin.store.

Instructions for Use
NovoRapid (Novo Nordisk) should be applied subcutaneously (under the skin) at the injection site of your choice: abdomen, shoulders, thighs, or buttocks. Change the site after every application to avoid bumps formation. Do not administer the medication into the muscle or vein, and do not massage the area after the injection.
Do not share your needles with other people, even if the needle was changed. Moreover, if you use insulin pens or cartridges – do not allow other people to use them as well.
Warnings and Precautions
People with the following issues cannot use NovoRapid (Novolog):
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the remedy;
- Upcoming hypoglycemia episodes (low blood sugar);
- Diabetic ketoacidosis.
If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, consult with your doctor about the insulin dose you should take. Maybe, you’d need insulin analog or less amount of the medication units.
Infusion set or insulin degradation can rapidly cause hyperglycemia and ketoacidosis. Remember, if NovoRapid is used together with Thiazolidinediones (tzds), the patient should be observed by their health care provider. Sometimes, the combination of these two products may lead to severe side effects (including heart failure).
Dosing and Administration
Insulin NovoRapid is a prescription medication, which means only your health care provider may calculate the needed dose and administration frequency.
Sometimes, Novolog insulin aspart injection needs recalculation. It may be caused by various factors, including the appearance of sudden disease, weight gain or loss, changes in the diet, exercise routine, or insulin that was used before, etc.
The insulin can be applied with the help of a cartridge or penfill, as well as a continuous subcutaneous infusion route (insulin pump).
Side Effects
During insulin therapy with NovoRapid (Novolog), common side reactions may occur:
- Injection site reactions (rash or redness);
- Slight allergic reactions;
- Increased frequency of urination;
- High blood pressure;
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels);
- Excessive sweating;
- Changes in the mood.
These common side effects are not dangerous and usually do not require a doctor’s assistance. Severe symptoms of NovoRapid include lipodystrophy, ventricular arrhythmia, symptoms of heart failure, trouble breathing, etc.
It can also lead to life-threatening hypokalemia, which then may cause respiratory paralysis, ventricular arrhythmia, and death. In case you’ve noticed any of the symptoms mentioned above, contact your doctor immediately to get medical help right away.
If you feel the upcoming low blood sugar levels, make sure you have a quick sugar source nearby (sweet snack, a sugary drink, or a glucose pill). If this method didn’t help, it is recommended to get in touch with your doctor to consult and have a glucagon injection if needed.
Storage and Handling Conditions
All unopened vials should be kept in the fridge at a temperature from 2 to 8 ° C. Do not store them in the freezer or close to the freezer compartment. If you’ve accidentally frozen the vial, do not use it!

Vials are the worst! It’s so uncomfortable to carry them around, plus the syringes. People are giving me weird looks all the time. If there’s an option to buy an insulin pen, I better choose it over the vial.

I’m not sure whether I’m ready to switch to other insulin forms from traditional vials. It’s more comfortable for me, and it doesn’t take a lot of time to use the syringe. So, it’s a perfect variant for me!

The box arrived slightly smashed, but the vials were safely packed, so nothing was smashed. I’m very glad because I’ve already had a few accidents with other suppliers who didn’t care about the safety of their parcels. Thank you for being responsible.
